CAPITALISING WITH BACKEND AND UP-SELL PRODUCTS
Probably this is the most over looked area by many companies, yet it can and often is, the most profitable marketing strategy for online businesses.
When you "up-sell", you offer your customers a deluxe, more expensive, or complementary product just before they complete their order. A "backend" is a product or service that you sell your customers after the initial sale.
Up-selling is easy! By programming a pop-up window to appear each time someone fills out your order form and presses the submit button! In this window, you present your customers with another product.. even another two or three products! Because the window opens with a confirmation of the original order and a thank-you, the customer does not consider the add intrusive.
Your first-time customers are always of the highest cost to you. This is a simple fact that many online marketeers overlook, spending all of their time, money and energy on drawing more first-time visitors to their web sites.
You will earn far bigger profits by focusing on the relationship that has already been established with your current customer base.
It is easier to sell to previous customers because you have already cultivated a relationship with them. If your product/service lived up to your promise and their expectations, if you gave them good value, and if you provided excellent customer service, then it will be easy to sell to these people again and again!
You need to be aware of that 20% of your customers will be responsible for 80% of your profits. Statistics has shown that your client base is a gold mine..and that as many as 36% of the people who have bought something from you previously will buy again if you have something similar to offer. Think of the potential! This is how you can start earning a much larger income/sales..very quickly.
Be acutely aware of the "life-time" value of these customers. These are the people you need to focus the majority of your attention on because these 20% will buy from you over and over again. Show appreciation and offer special incentives to them. Reward them for being loyal customers and they will continue to buy from you.
