Small Business Idea With Tons Of Sauce
What do you make of this small business success story on Dragons Den?
As a small business idea who would have dreamt that "Reggae Sauce" would win small business financing from savvy inverstors.
Yet this is what happened when Levi Roots from Brixton (London UK) appeared on Dragons Den, the reality TV programme where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas live in front of a panel of investors to win start up capital or seed finance.
"Reggae Reggae Sauce" was a hit with two Dragon investors who took a stake in the business.
Levi Roots was nominated Best Reggae singer at the 1998 Mobo awards. He was making the spicy sauce in his kitchen until four weeks ago, when he went on Dragons Den to seek small business financing to expand his business. The outcome, he secured £50,000 seed capital, plus Sainsburys (supermarket store) as well as selling Reggae Reggae Sauce could also be selling "Proper Tings" (the Reggae Reggae Sauce Song). Wow!
An unusual pitch but this is an example where the product speaks for itself.
Don't rush to get this Caribbean sauce from the company's web site just yet. Seems they have been inundated with customers and they are busy cooking up more "Reggae Reggae Sauce."
