SMALL BUSINESS TAX, INHERITANCE TAX, CAPITAL GAINS TAX, INCOME TAX, TAX HAVEN AND TAX PLANNING

Tax, whether applying to companies or individuals can be complex. We provide the full range of compliance and advisory services that you would expect from any competent firm of advisors. The difference is in our approach. To us tax – whatever tax – is seen as just another cost. It can be managed and mitigated by taking advance action. Our service, quite simply, is to advise clients in straightforward language, as to what those actions are, and how they should best be implemented in a commercial way. No situation cannot be managed or mitigated. Our skill is in determining the right action to take.

Tax savings can only be achieved if an appropriate course of action is planned in advance. It is therefore vital that professional advice is sought at an early stage. We would welcome the chance to tailor a plan to your specific circumstances.

Main areas of business tax are:

Inheritance tax
Inheritance tax is primarily a tax that is levied upon the value of an individual's estate at the date of their death, it is different to most other taxes. Because it would be easy to avoid inheritance tax by making a gift of property just before the date of death, inheritance tax also taxes certain gifts made during a person's lifetime.

Capital gains tax
In principle, although not in detail, capital gains tax is straightforward. The essence of a capital gain is the increase in value of an asset during the period of ownership and is therefore a comparison between the purchase price and the selling price.

Corporation tax
Corporation tax is charged on the profits of companies resident in the UK by reference to the total profits arising in each accounting period. A company resident in the UK is resident here for corporation tax purposes. A company incorporated elsewhere, is regarded as resident in the UK if it is centrally managed and controlled here. Corporation tax is the generic tax payable on all profits of a company.

Tax Saving Opportunities For Companies

Due to the ever changing tax legislation and commercial factors affecting your company, it is now advisable to carry out an annual review of your company's tax position.

Pre-year end tax planning is important as the current year's results can normally be predicted with some accuracy and time still exists to carry out any appropriate action.

We outline below some of the areas where advance planning may produce tax savings as well as identifying some of the problem areas where procedural errors may prove to be costly.
