VIRUSES
If you get email with these subject lines, delete them before opening - the messages most likely contain a virus. Here's the list of messages, plus a free tool to detect and remove viruses.
You probably have a virus on your computer. One who's goal is to destroy your important computer files.
Even if you use anti-virus programs, you probably have a virus - hidden deep within your email folders.
One of these viruses is designed to disable your firewalls, infect all computers on your network, send spam your mail list, and slowly eat away at your computer's operating system. And most anti-virus programs can't detect this one.
If you get much email, your computer is probably already infected with this virus. And as a result, suffering a slow death.
If you have opened email with any of the following subject lines, your computer is probably infected with a virus (details on how to check this later in this article).

Not every email with the above headlines will have a hidden virus, but the majority will. (A lot of computer users have set their email filters to delete email with any above headlines - keep those headlines in mind when writing legitimate email messages - as using one of those headlines could cause your email to be deleted.)
Detecting the virus
Fortunately, there is a free anti-virus checking tool which can detect and (in most cases) automatically remove harmful viruses from your computer.
You can run this free virus detection tool by visiting Scan for Viruses
When you visit the above link, you will be asked to accept and install a plugin from Trend Micro. Accept the plugin (which allows Trend Micro to load the scanning tools onto your computer).
After you accept the plugin, you'll see a screen showing the drives on your computer. Click on the C drive, click 'Autoclean' and click 'Scan'. Then go for a walk - because the scan will take 15-30 minutes.
When the program completes, you'll see a list of viruses found on your computer.
In most cases, the program will automatically remove the viruses from your computer . . . but for the really nasty viruses (like Bug A Bear), you'll have to resort to another tool. (Warning - if the virus scanning program can't remove the virus, don't choose to delete the virus infected file - as doing so can delete important files.)
If the Bug a Bear virus is found on your computer, find the free removal tool at Bug A Bear removal
Computer viruses are a real pain - but most people rarely bother to regularly scan and cleanse their computers of viruses. The only time they really become concerned about viruses is when their computer suddenly quits working, and they discover that all their computer files have been destroyed. And at that point, it can be too late.
If your computer is important in your business, make it a habit to scan for viruses at least once a month - and backup your files regularly. Failure to do so can definitely cost you a lot of time and money as you struggle to recover your valuable computer files.
SoBig Virus
If you or someone you know (or on your network) is infected, here's the manual process for recovering and for preventing SoBig from spreading to other users.
You should also scan your PC for viruses. Trend Micro is a very good service and it's free Click here for an immediate scan
